Born in the Bronx, New York, Baqash knew he would become a fashion designer when he began making his own clothes at the age of 12. Growing up the eldest of twelve children, there simply was not enough to buy what everyone else was wearing. He noticed even then that every season people would run after the same fad or fashion, that had flooded the market, even in the urban neighborhood
Baqash has won several national design awards including the first new Day Designer of the Year, Canadian Club Designers Showcase and Golden Designer Award. His merits as a Costume Designer have been seen on stage in Productions of Dream Girls, The Wiz & Evita just to name a few
His menswear was shown was shown at South Africa Fashion Week which gave him his first taste of success in the fashion industry. His collection was featured on (FTV) Fashion Television and after the show he presented a suit to Nelson Mandela as a gift. His collections have been shown in Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria & Ethopia
He has also enjoyed the thrill of seeing his evening designs & costumes on stage in both Ms. Universe & Miss World Pagents. ‘’I have been designing for young women competing in these pagents for years. To know more than 1 billion people are watching your designs is an incredible experience’’ he says.
His women’s collection reflect the beauty & splendor of the many exotic places he has visited around the world. He still enjoy preparing young women in competition in International Beauty Pagents as a license holder for both Ethopia and the US Virgin Islands where he sends delegates to Top Grand Slam Pagents including Miss World, Miss International & Top Model of the World.
